I travel to Haiti each year with an international mission organization to help build churches, homes, schools, medical clinics & etc. I also serve as photographer... I always have my camera near & very seldom do people turn away. Haitians live such a hard life yet many display a joyful smile despite their surroundings. Walking through the laid back ocean side village of Grand Goave it is common to hear the laughter of children & to be greeted with a friendly nod from passersby. I return home with a new appreciation for my many blessings! These photos are taken from a presentation I put together using KeyNote (iWork ‘06) with my Mac.
My favorite images are well done b&w portraits. Recently I’ve also been experimenting with pulling back the color saturation by 40-50%... sometimes it fits the bill quite nicely I think. I’m also a big fan of smiles... the barely detectable smile (displayed more so in the eyes possibly than across the lips) & the smile that’s about to break into laughter.
A boy & his guitar. This little fella' wants to be the next Jonn Petrucci... nothing wrong with aiming high! I told him practice, practice & more practice. Oh, did I mention practice?
